Rick Hahnenberg, President of the Upstate SC Chapter of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State will speak at our April meeting to be held Wed. April 20 at the UU Church of Spartanburg in Room 5. Refreshments and Fellowship at 6:30, meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.
His talk entitled
"What Madison and Jefferson might say about School Vouchers and other First Amendment Issues"
will deal with the many challenges to the first amendment now pending in state legislatures and congress. Rick will also discuss some of the issues that the Upstate SC Chapter has dealt with over the last eight years since it was formed. There will be ample time for discussion. Several Americans United First Amendment handouts will available for you take home before you leave. The First Amendment, concerning religion and the basis of the "Wall of Separation between Church and State" is a cornerstone of our democracy.
